5 advantages of dental implants

1. Implants are a fixed solution
Unlike dentures, which need to be removed for cleaning and can slip around the mouth while eating and speaking, dental implants are a permanent fixed replacement for your missing teeth. A titanium ‘root’ is fitted into your jawbone beneath your gums. Once the root has fused with your jawbone, the replacement teeth are then mounted onto the top.

2. Implants help to prevent bone loss
Your jawbone needs constant stimulation to retain its shape and density. This is usually provided by chewing and biting, however when you lose a tooth the jawbone no longer receives any stimulation and it begins to deteriorate. This process (known as resorption) continues over time and can give the lower part of your face a shrunken, aged appearance. Dental implants help to prevent bone loss by mimicking the natural tooth root, providing your jawbone with the stimulation it needs to retain bone density.

3. Implants can look just like natural teeth
Once your implant is in place, it can look and feel just like a natural tooth – no one will be able to tell the difference. This can be a big confidence booster for implant patients.

4. Implants make eating and speaking easier
Patients with dentures often find eating tricky because they slip around the mouth. Implants are permanently fixed to the jawbone, which means they behave just like normal teeth. Implants restore full chewing power and enable patients to eat and speak with confidence – no more dietary restrictions or embarrassing social mishaps!

5. Implants can last a lifetime
When cared for properly, dental implants may last a lifetime. The titanium implant integrates with the jawbone, becoming a permanent part of you. For optimal care, you should visit your dentist every six months to make sure your implant is healthy and functioning normally.
